Job Description
The Software Application Manager will join a team responsible for tasks related to changes to installations of software products created by our Product Division. These tasks include all steps that come after the software build process, such as installations, updates, reconfigurations, and data imports. The team performs these tasks in an automated way using self-made or open source tools, which this position will also use. The Software Application Manager will share these responsibilities with other members of the team. In addition, the Software Application Manager will advise the IT departments of our customers regarding installation requirements and suggestions.
This position uses knowledge from various disciplines in order to achieve the goal of a functioning software installation. If you strive to become a Linux System Administrator, to work in DevOps, or want to be a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), this position touches on all of those fields. It is assumed that, because this job is a mix of skills, no applicant will have them all and Scionics will need to train you into the position.
It should also be noted that because our processes are automated, not all time needs to be devoted to updates and installations of our software. At one point, that part of the job will become fairly routine. It is our intention that this position will have time for further training as well as a chance to improve these automation scripts and/or explore new ideas as to how to better test and ensure that installations and updates were successful and are running properly. We would like this position to eventually take what we have already done and push it to the next level.
This is a full-time, hybrid office, position, with salary based on experience. The team is working remotely most days but does come to prescheduled meetings in the Dresden office on occasion in order to brainstorm ideas and for training.Responsibilities
